A Career in Real Estate

Starting a career in real estate can be one of the most rewarding career opportunities for you.  As an independent contractor with Coldwell Banker Real Estate Now we strive to assist you in meeting your career goals.  Real Estate is not easy, but if you have the qualities below you are well on your way to a satisfying and profitable career in this business.

Tennessee requires that for you to become licensed as an affiliate broker, you must complete 3 courses and pass a written exam on principals of real estate as well as Tennessee state law. The first two courses, 30 hours each, are primarily related to the principals of real estate and law.  Once completeed, you are eligible to take the written examination right here in Jackson, Tennessee.  The third course is another 30 hour course geared more into the practical aspects as well as running your business.  It is not until you complete all the course studies, that you can obtain your license.

Typically what most prospective agents do, is check with an area broker before they start the process and determine what programs and in-house training is available to assist the agent in building a successful career. Your total expenses basically run anywhere from $1500 to $2000 from the start of your pre-licensing to the point of actually entering into your real estate career.  These costs include, education, insurance, membership fees/dues, licensing costs, and miscellaneous costs for supplies.
